Tim Laun is a native of Wisconsin, born 1974 in Sheboygan, and raised in the nearby town of Kiel, population 3,083. In the tradition of most Wisconsin families, Laun grew up watching the Green Bay Packers with his parents and three sisters, usually on television after attending church on Sundays. Some of Laun's earliest memories include visiting training camp practices, and following players to the field in hopes of getting an autograph. The Laun family have been Packers season ticket holders since Lambeau field opened in 1957. After graduating from Kiel High School, Laun attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he received a BFA in 1996. He moved to New York City and studied at Hunter College, receiving an MFA in 1999. Laun has exhibited work in solo shows in New York and Glasgow, Scotland, and group shows in New York, Glasgow, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt. His work was featured at the Freize Art Fair in London in the fall of 2004. Laun recently curated an exhibition at the Bertha and Carl Leubsdorf Art Gallery at Hunter College,"Upon Further Review: Looking at Sports in Contemporary Art." In September 2005, Laun will present the Favre Era Cylcorama at the International Panorama Conference in Shenyang, China.
